Country Cooperation Strategy 2023–2027, Angola
The World Health Organization's (WHO) Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) is a key initiative designed to align WHO's capabilities with the specific needs of countries, offering a strategic vision for cooperation with member states. In Angola, three CCS implementations over 16 years have led to significant health sector advancements, including Angola's polio-free status in 2015. The Angolan Government's commitment to health is evident through increased public health investments, service expansion, workforce availability, and effective COVID-19 response and vaccination efforts. However, challenges such as high maternal and child mortality and rising noncommunicable diseases, compounded by climate change, underline the evolving public health landscape in Africa. The CCS for 2023–2027, aligning with both regional and global priorities, focuses on key areas like health system strengthening, maternal and child health, disease control, and emergency preparedness. The WHO Regional Office pledges comprehensive support to Angola, reflecting the collaboration with other United Nations agencies and partners, to achieve the set goals in health improvement.
