Country Health Topics
Kenya is a lower-middle-income country with an estimated population of over 54 million people. The country operates a devolved health system across 47 counties, with the national government responsible for health policy and county governments managing service delivery. Kenya has made significant strides in improving health outcomes over the past two decades, though substantial challenges remain in achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and addressing persistent health inequities between regions and populations.
WHO Kenya works through three strategic clusters; (1) Health Promotion, Disease Prevention and Control, (2) Health Emergencies, and (3) Health Systems and Services, to support the Government of Kenya in building resilient health systems and advancing toward UHC.
