Country Cooperation Strategy 2022–2026 South Sudan

This South Sudan WHO Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) 2022–2026, presents a framework through which WHO will work with all stakeholders towards achieving sustainable development goals in South Sudan, as outlined in the National Development Strategy 2018–2023 and the National Health Policy 2016–2026 (NHP).

South Sudan has made modest progress, in spite of decades of conflict that have undermined health systems capacities and eroded health security capabilities. Life expectancy at birth has increased slightly from 55 years in 2010 to 58 years in 2018. Child mortality has declined steadily since 1990, although maternal mortality ratio has increased slightly to 1150/100 000 live births from the estimated 1110/100 000 live births in 2015.
