WHO Ethiopia Supported AEFI Causality Assessment TOT
Central EPI Team members supported the Ethiopian Food, Medicine and Health Care Administration and Control Authority (EFMHACA) to conduct a training of trainers (TOT) on Adverse events following immunization (AEFI) causality assessment for regional task force members in Adama town. The TOT was conducted in two rounds from 28th March - 1st April, 2016 and from April 12-15, 2016 respectively.
The objective of the meeting was to equip participants with the knowledge and skills of detecting, investigating and making causality assessment of AEFIs. Additionally, it is intended to develop appropriate risk communication skills in AEFI crisis situation.
The participants were surveillance focal persons, immunization officers, regulatory officers, and pharmacists at national, regional and zonal levels. Regional surveillance coordinators from Addis Ababa, Oromia, and SNNPR have also attended the TOT training.
This training will be cascaded down to health facility level and WHO is expected to provide technical support.
