WHO reiterates its support for the revitalization of Primary Health Care in Angola.

Luanda, 7 July 2023 - The WHO African Region has significantly improved Universal Health Coverage since 2000, driven mainly by enhanced interventions addressing infectious conditions. However, this progresses it’s not happening in other crucial areas of health, such as ensuring health security or health in all its determinants, which may undermine aspirations to achieve adequate health service coverage.

Mbanza-Congo, 3 June 2023: Over the past two years, Angola has seen significant improvements in the Health Information System, an essential mechanism for responding to public health emergencies and protecting the population.  However, several challenges still need to be addressed in the epidemiological surveillance and epidemic response system, particularly regarding the capacity for case detection, notification, and investigation.

Luanda, Angola – In reference to the World Day for Negligible Tropical Diseases (NTDs), celebrated every year on the 30th of January, the Angola Ministry of Health (MINSA), with the support from the World Health Organization (WHO), brought together the main key partners to draw attention to NTD  priorities , the efforts made, and also to reflect on partnership between communities, sectors, and countries to advocate for more investments and actions aimed at preventing and eliminating NTDs.

Luanda, May 31th 2022 – Every year, more than 8 million people die worldwide due to smoking, of which 7 million result from direct consumption of tobacco and 1.2 million due to exposure of non-smokers to secondhand smoke. To educate the younger population about the dangers of smoking, the National Anti-Drug Fighting Institute (INALUD) held today in Luanda, another edition of the Writing and Drawing contest “Limpid Dreams Without Tobacco”.
