Abuja, 28 February, 2020 - Following the confirmation of the COVID19 (novel Corona Virus) case in Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) has reassured the country that government is putting efforts to urgently control and contain the situation.

Before, we neither understood what the problem was, nor know what exact action to take.”

Abuja, 27 January 2020 - “I felt very happy when my two children under the age of 5 years came home with the measles and meningitis vaccination cards (a proof of them being vaccinated). I am also relieved because it didn’t cost me a dime to protect my children against these diseases,” says Mrs Mohammed Saidu of Ilorin South Local Government Area (LGA), Kwara State.

Bauchi, 31 January 2020 - “We remain grateful to World Health Organization and State authorities, for empowering our people with information on the Lassa fever disease. In the past, we didn’t use to seek immediate medical help but managed cases at home, relying on traditional treatment.”

Abuja 20 January, 2020 - Having achieved the milestone of reaching three years without a reporting of case of wild poliovirus, The German Government represented by members of its Parliament expressed satisfaction with the progress in Polio Eradication in Nigeria. 

The German Government has been a long term supporter of the Polio Eradication Program in Nigeria; it has provided tremendous and longstanding financial support over the years with grants to fill critical funding gaps for vaccines and campaign operations across the Country.

Abuja, 27 December 2019 - In the final lap of certifying Nigeria, a polio-free country, the African Regional Certification Commission (ARCC) for the eradication of poliomyelitis gave a vote of confidence that Southern Nigeria is on the right path to being polio free. 

Abuja, 18 December, 2019 - Mrs Mojisola Shotola is a Government trained traditional birth attendant (TBA) with over 40 years of experience and a force to be reckoned with, in the fight against polio and other vaccine preventable diseases in her community. 

“I help mothers to deliver roughly eight to 10 babies every month, and as soon as the babies are born, I accompany my patients to primary healthcare facilities to ensure the newborns receive their first dose of oral polio vaccine, hepatitis B and every first dose vaccine necessary,” says Mrs Mojisola Sotola.
