Rodrigues receives training on integrated care for older people

The proportion of people over the age of 65 in Rodrigues climbed from 7.5% to 9.1% between 2011 and 2021.

Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE), a comprehensive approach to providing person-centred care to older people in the context of an ageing population, attained a fresh milestone with the completion of a sensitization campaign and training of trainers (ToT) in Rodrigues in September 2024.

Mbabane—The Kingdom of Eswatini has successfully completed its second Joint External Evaluation (JEE) of the implementation of the International Health Regulations (IHR) (2005) capacities. The JEE is a voluntary, collaborative, and multisectoral process designed to assess a country’s ability to prevent, detect, and respond swiftly to public health risks, whether they arise naturally or from deliberate or accidental events.

Sierra Leone, with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and international and national partners, has successfully transported remaining Ebola samples from remote storage sites to a secure central biobank. This operation was important to reduce the risk of accidental exposure, release or misuse of these potentially hazardous materials as well as laying the groundwork for future scientific research using these samples.

In a joint mission with the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the World Health Organization (WHO) conducted an important assessment of health services in refugee settlement in Lunda Norte province, Angola, from 30 September to 2 October. This mission aimed to evaluate the quality and collaboration of health services provided at the Lôvua Refugee Settlement, a home to thousands of refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) since 2017.
