WHO South Sudan concluded the first-ever high-level consultative 2022-2023 biennium plan review with the Ministry of Health

The World Health Organization (WHO) South Sudan Country Office conducted a consultative meeting with the senior management of the Ministry of Health to review the progress made in the implementation of the 2022/2023 biennium plan.

The meeting from 18 to 19 July 2023 aimed to review the progress in implementing the 2022-23 biennium plan and chart ways to achieve the pending activities. WHO plans in two-year cycles (biennium), with the current biennial plan ending on 31 December 2023.

The event coincided with his busy schedule attending the 13th BRICS Ministers of Health Meeting, which focused on "Bridging Sustainable Health for Universal Health Coverage."

Dar es Salaam - The newly designated Country Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Tanzania, Dr. Charles Sagoe-Moses, has presented his letter of credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax (Mb.), on the start of his duty tour in Tanzania. Dr Sagoe- Moses’ appointment took effect from 6th June 2023.

In 1967, Dr Baruch Blumberg (1925-2011) discovered the Hepatitis B virus. Two years later, he also developed the first Hepatitis B vaccine. He was born on 28 July, and for this reason, World Hepatitis Day is celebrated today.
