26 March 2021 — Ninety-nine (99) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4179 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases twenty-one thousand, three hundred, and nine (21309). To date, nineteen thousand, six hundred, and fifty-seven (19657) patients have recovered, including one hundred and seventeen (117) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, three hundred, and fifty-two (1352) and three hundred (300) deaths. 

The Kingdom of Eswatini joined the rest of the world in commemorating World TB Day 2021. The country celebrated the tremendous strides made in the fight against Tuberculosis. The celebration was held under the theme: The clock is ticking, ending TB in the time of COVID 19. The theme reiterates the importance of continuing with the fight despite the ongoing pandemic.  

Abuja, March 26 2021 - “This Tuberculosis (TB) is curable, it goes away completely if you take your drugs constantly without skipping a day in the treatment you can be completely free” stated 38-year-old TB survivor Ekong Francis Ubong, a Political Science and International Relations graduate that resides in FCT, Abuja.

The World Health Organization (WHO) country office in collaboration with the European Union Delegation in Botswana and the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MoHW) officially launched the 13,6 million BWP project “Strengthening epidemic preparedness and response to COVID-19 to reduce excess morbidity and mortality due to COVID-19 and other epidemic-prone diseases in the high-risk population in Botswana”. The initiative is funded by the European Union Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO).

Abuja, March 22 2021- “Every morning, I walk for about 4.5 Kilometers to get water from a neighboring village, I have to do this every day to provide water for my family. This is because we do not have access to freshwater and using the contaminated one we have can affect our health” stated Falmata Goni, a nine–year old girl from Konduga Local Government Area (LGA), Borno state. 

She added that “I want to become a water engineer to help other people like me get sustainable access to freshwater.”

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases twenty-one thousand, two hundred, and ten (21210). To date, nineteen thousand, five hundred, and forty (19540) patients have recovered, including ninety-nine (99) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, three hundred, and seventy-two (1372) and two hundred, and ninety-eight (298) deaths. 

COVID-19 Vaccine in Lesotho

Abuja, 25 March, 2021 - Frontline health workers in Lagos State who have received the Oxford/AstraZeneca Vaccine expressed optimism that the vaccine will boost the level of their immunity against the disease. They also said receiving the vaccine has increased their level of confidence in discharging their duties efficiently.

Juba, 25 March 2021 – Today 132,000 doses of the Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccine arrived at the Juba International Airport. This is the first of several vaccine shipments scheduled to arrive over the coming months to South Sudan through the support of the COVAX Facility. The COVAX Facility is a global partnership comprised of Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, UNICEF and WHO established to ensure all countries can equitably access COVID-19 vaccines.
