Nigeria rallies over 7000 traditional leaders against COVID-19
Abuja, 12 March, 2021 - As the second wave of COVID-19 affects the global health and economic community, the World Health Organization (WHO) is supporting government to engage strategic stakeholders as part of concerted efforts to reverse the trend of the pandemic. This engagement builds on the lessons learned from the critical role played by traditional and religious leaders in the achievement of a polio-free status in Nigeria.

11 March 2021 — Ninety-nine (99) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4603 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases nineteen thousand, nine hundred, and forty-five (19945). To date, eighteen thousand, two hundred, and thirty-six (18236) patients have recovered, including one hundred and eighteen (118) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, four hundred, and thirty-six (1436) and two hundred, and seventy-three (273) deaths.

10 March 2021 — Sixty-seven (67) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 3665 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases nineteen thousand, eight hundred, and forty-six (19846). To date, eighteen thousand, one hundred, and eighteen (18118) patients have recovered, including eighty-five (85) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, four hundred, and fifty-seven (1457) and two hundred, and seventy-one (271) deaths.

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases nineteen thousand, seven hundred, and seventy-nine (19779). To date, eighteen thousand, and thirty-three (18033) patients have recovered, including one hundred, and twenty-two (122) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, four hundred, and seventy-six (1476) and two hundred, and seventy (270) deaths.

Juba - A visibly anxious and exhausted 25-year-old Kanyet Modi from Gumuruk payam a few kilometres from Pibor, walks into Pibor primary health care center stabilization centre in the morning hours. He appears to be losing hope holding her seven-month son Nyaprilem Baal who has fever, diarrhea and vomiting. Nyaprilem is malnourished.
Urgent provision of care was the fine line between life and potential death after he was screened and found to have severe acute malnutrition with medical complication at the outpatient therapeutic programme.
Lagos State and WHO to leverage on polio resources to strengthen public health interventions
Lagos, 10 March, 2021 - In Lagos, the Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and World Health Organization Representative (WR) in Nigeria agreed to leverage on Polio resources to strengthen continuity of quality essential health services.
