02 January 2021 — One hundred and seven (107) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2345 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases eight thousand, five hundred and sixty-seven (8567). To date, six thousand, six hundred, and eighty-five (6685) patients have recovered, including a eighty-seven (87) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, seven hundred, and eighty-four (1784) and ninety-eight (98) deaths.

01 January 2021 — Seventy-seven (77) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2986 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases eight thousand, four hundred and sixty (8460). To date, six thousand, five hundred, and ninety-eight (6598) patients have recovered, including a hundred and fifty-six (56) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, seven hundred, and sixty-eight (1768) and ninety-four (94) deaths. The 2 new deaths are male of 81 and 73 years old in Kigali.

31 December 2020 — A hundred and thirty-three (133) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4332 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases eight thousand, three hundred and eighty-three (8383). To date, six thousand, five hundred, and forty-two (6542) patients have recovered, including a hundred and seventy-three (173) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, seven hundred, and forty-nine (1749) and ninety-six (96) deaths. The 6 new deaths are 4 male of 52, 57, 62, and 71 years and 2 female of 38 and 40 years old in Kigali.
WHO works with the health and education sectors to ensure COVID-19 prevention measures are in place as schools reopen in Ethiopia
Schools in Ethiopia are reopening after nine months of closure following the confirmation of the first COVID-19 case in the country in March 2020. Since March, the disease has affected over 100 000 people, killed nearly two thousand, and disrupted normal life activities including education. However, in September 2020, the Government lifted the national state of emergency, which was in place since March of the same year, relaxing some preventive measures initially instituted to curb the spread, and paving the way to plan for safe school reopening.

To date, six thousand, three hundred, and thirty-nine (6339) patients have recovered, with no one in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, seven hundred, and ten (1710) and seventy-nine (79) deaths. The 4 new deaths are 2 male of 78 and 68, and a female of 84 years old in Kigali, and a female of 48 years in Gicumbi District.

The number of active cases is one thousand, six hundred, and seven (1607) and seventy-five (75) deaths. The new death is a male of 77 years old in Kigali.
