Kampala, 7 September 2020:- At Rwenshama point of entry on the shores of Lake Edward in Rukungiri district, western Uganda, it’s a warm windy day and the place is bustling with activity. At one end, many sailors in groups of over eight are standing by their boats and preparing their nets for the day’s catch. On the other side, others are preparing to set off into the lake while in a permanent shelter, another group has displayed their catch for the day for all to see and buy the fish of their choice.

05 September 2020 — Forty-five (45) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4420 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, three hundred, and forty-nine (4349). To date, two thousand, one hundred, and ninety-nine (2199) patients have recovered and been discharged, including eight (8) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is two thousand, one hundred, and thirty-two (2132) and eighteen (18) deaths.

Today South Sudan launched the first ever National Strategic Plan on Viral Hepatitis and National treatment and care guidelines for Hepatitis in South Sudan. 

Hepatitis silently harms and kills thousands of Africans every year. Of the 71 million Africans with chronic viral hepatitis, 300 people die daily from liver cancer and other complications related to hepatitis B and C infections.  

04 September 2020 — Forty-nine (49) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 5795 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, three hundred, and four (4304). To date, two thousand, one hundred, and ninety-one (2191) patients have recovered and been discharged, including twenty-eight (28) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is two thousand, and ninety-five (2095) and eighteen (18) deaths.

Kampala, 4 September 2020:- When the World Health Organization (WHO), declared the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) outbreak a global pandemic, on 11th March 2020, many Ugandans didn’t take it seriously with many saying it was a disease for the affluent, the very high class or for developed countries.

03 September 2020 — Thirty-seven (37) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 5079 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, two hundred, and fifty-five (4255). To date, two thousand, one hundred, and sixty-three (2163) patients have recovered and been discharged, including ninety-two (92) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is two thousand, one hundred and seventy-four (2174) and eighteen (18) deaths.  The new death is a Rwandan male of 31 years from Kigali.
