In public health emergencies such as the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, one essential lifesaving action is risk communication. This is because people have a right to know how to protect their health and have a responsibility to take informed decisions to protect themselves, their loved ones and those around them.

23 April 2020 — One (1) new CoVID_19 case was identified today, out of one thousand three hundred forty-three(1343) samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to a hundred and fifty-four (154). To date, eighty-seven (87) patients have recovered, including three (3) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is now sixty-seven (67).

All active cases are in isolation in stable condition.

Juba, 22 April 2020 - In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in the country, WHO in support of the Ministry of Health prepositioned COVID-19 supplies as part of the national COVID-19 preparedness and response plan to twenty different locations including Juba to collect samples, package and transport for testing in Juba.

22 April 2020 — Three (3) new CoVID_19 cases were identified out of 1038 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to a hundred and fifty-three (153). To date, eighty-four (84) patients have recovered and been discharged. The number of active cases is sixty-nine (69).

All active cases are in isolation in stable condition, and one patient is receiving oxygen as a precaution.

21 April 2020 — Three (3) new CoVID_19 cases were identified out of 1449 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to a hundred and fifty (150). To date, eighty (80) patients have recovered, including four (4) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is sixty-six (66).

All active cases are in isolation in stable condition, and one patient is receiving oxygen as a precaution.

Maiduguri, 22 April, 2020 - Following confirmation of the first COVID-19 case in Borno, the World Health Organization (WHO) and partners are moving rapidly to help health authority in the state to identify, test and treat cases in order to prevent and control further outbreak of the disease.

The first case of COVID-19 was reported 51 days after the country declared an outbreak of COVID-19 disease. As at 20 April 2020, in Nigeria 665 cases have been confirmed in 25 out of 36 States, including Borno, and the Federal capital Territory,

The first United Nations ‘Solidarity’ flight started delivering vital medical supplies from last week to all countries in Africa where these are needed the most.  The flight was facilitated by the World Food Programme and included WHO supported supplies of face shields, gloves, goggles, gowns, masks, medical aprons and thermometers. Supplies for the Namibian government arrived in the country on 17 April 2020.
