  1. Nutrition Surveillance Report: Malnutrition is one of the contributing factors of childhood deaths and is a serious public health concern in Sierra Leone. Findings of the recently conducted standardized measurement and assessment of relief and transition (SMART, 2010) survey showed that 327,000 children are stunted, 180,000 are underweight whilst 66,000 of children were wasted.
  2. Using Maternal Death Review to improve quality of care in Kenema Hospital: The Government of Sierra Leone prioritized maternal and child health issues and thus commenced the implementation of the Free Health Care Initiative (FHCI) in April 2010.
