On the 22nd of October 2009 the Ministry of Health presented the National Integrated Plan for scaling up MDGs 4 and 5 (2009-2013) to health development partners and government officials.

The plan was developed in collaboration with partners and aims to ensure access to a set of integrated, equitable and effective interventions at all levels of the National Health Service, in the community and households for women, newborns, children and adolescents. The 5 year plan is estimated at 840million US $.

For effective implementation of the plan, several challenges should be addressed, among them, the human resources crisis, improving coordination and integration of initiatives and programs, as well as building strong partner
