    The strategic priority areas are as follows:
    o    reduction of communicable diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, neglected tropical diseases and vaccine-preventable diseases;
    o    reversing the rising burden of noncommunicable diseases through promotion of healthy lifestyles;
    o    promoting health through the course of life with special emphasis on reducing neonatal and maternal mortality as well as addressing determinants of health;
    o    health systems strengthening, with a special focus on Health financing and human resources planning; and
    o    epidemic preparedness and response, with special attention given to implementation of the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005).
