The Democratic Republic of the Congo aims to eliminate sleeping sickness by 2030

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is using therapeutic innovations to put an end to sleeping sickness.

With the adoption of oral treatment, the country has significantly reduced the prevalence of the disease from 3206 notified cases in 2014 to less than 400 cases in 2023.

Community-based approaches are being used to mobilize support for screening and treatment.
