Le Niger reçoit 398 970 doses de vaccin Pfizer-BioNTech offertes par les Etats-Unis d’Amérique à travers l’initiative COVAX.

Niamey, NIGER, le 8 janvier 2022. Le Ministre de la Santé Publique, de la Population et des Affaires So-ciales, Dr Idi ILIASSOU MAINASSARA a procédé à la réception officielle de 398 970 doses de vaccin Pfizer-BioNTech à l’Aéroport Diori Hamani de Niamey. Ces doses de vaccin sont offertes par le gouvernement des Etats-Unis d’Amérique à travers l’initiative COVAX.

Le 24 novembre 2021, l'Afrique du Sud a rapporté à l’Organisation Mondiale de la Santé la détection et la présence d’un nouveau variant du virus SRAS-CoV-2 sur un échantillon prélevé le 9 novembre 2021. Initialement nommé variant B.1.1.529, ce variant présentait desmutations qui étaient jusqu’à maintenant non répertoriées par la communauté scientifique.

WHO supports the Government of Niger COVID-19 vaccination with the USAID and other donors financial support

Since March 29, 2021, the Government of Niger has started Covid-19 vaccination roll out that was launched in Niamey by the Prime Minister and across the country on 4 May 2021 by the Minister of Public Health, Population and Social Affairs, Dr Illiassou MAINASSARA. This campaign was made possible thanks to the vaccines received from the bilateral cooperation and the Co-vax facility. However, this vaccination faced many challenges such as the availability of suffi-cient stocks of vaccines and the funding for the operational costs.
