Dutse, 26 October, 2021 - Having survived the ongoing cholera outbreak in Jigawa State, Mallam Saleh Magaji Baranda, a father of 11 and a farmer from Baranda village in Dutse Local Government Area (LGA or District), has been vaccinated with the Oral Cholera Vaccine (OCV) at the recently concluded cholera vaccination campaign in the state. 

After his near-death experience, Mallam Baranda had no doubts about receiving the vaccine during recent launch of the vaccination campaign. He now advocates for people in his community to get vaccinated against the disease. 

Abuja, October 25, 2021 - The United Nations System in Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring peace and prosperity for all in Nigeria.
This commitment was made by Dr Walter Kazadi Mulombo, the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Representative and United Nations Resident Coordinator (Ad Interim) during a symposium to commemorate the 2021 UN Day at the UN house in Abuja on October 25, 2021.

Osogbo, 25 October, 2021 - As a health worker and Local Immunization Officer in Ilesha West Local Government Area (LGA), Osun State, Mrs Toyin Ajewole has seen first-hand effects of a child not being vaccinated. 

Calabar, 21 October, 2022 - Bassey Eyo, a mother of three, living in Cross River State was delighted that she and her child could receive the COVID-19 vaccine and the novel Oral Polio Vaccine (nOPV2) respectively at a health center in Big Qua.

She had travelled 5 miles to get to Big Qua town with the hope of accessing both vaccines. 

Lokoja, 14 October, 2021 - The World Health Organization (WHO) is in collaborating with the Kogi State Government to respond to the ongoing cholera outbreak and to reinforce surveillance for other Health Security risks. The Kogi State Government recently held a town hall meeting to galvanize multi-level whole of society state leadership for the Cholera outbreak response.

Ado-Ekiti, 29 September, 2021 - “Getting my covid-19 result in less than 6 hours and not having to wait for days was a relief. The short turnaround time enabled me to make the appropriate and timely decision to self–isolate, says Oluwatoyosi Eniola, a health worker in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Ms Eniola had experienced all covid-19 symptoms (headache severe enough to disturb her sleep, nasal congestion and cough) after returning from an official trip out of Ekiti, which prompted her to go to the clinic at her place of work for testing. The result was positive. 

Minna, 29 September, 2021 - On the frontline of ensuring that communities in Niger State stop open defecation, dispose of faecal sludge properly and embrace decent sanitation systems is 29-year-old Abubakar Mohammed, a community youth sanitation volunteer.

But, for some houses in Niger state municipal, the sewages are broken down or blocked leading to improper disposal of untreated human waste into the environment.
