Update COVID-19 25 September 2020

25 September 2020 — Nine (9) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 1400 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, seven hundred, and ninety-eight (4798). To date, three thousand, and eighty (3080) patients have recovered and been discharged, including thirty (30) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, six hundred, and eighty-nine (1689) and twenty-nine (29) deaths. The two new deaths are a woman and a man Rwandan respectively of 46 and 44 years old in Kigali.

Update COVID-19 24 September 2020

24 September 2020 — Ten (10) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2158 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, seven hundred, and eighty-nine (4789). To date, three thousand, and fifty (3050) patients have recovered and been discharged, including fifty-five (55) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, seven hundred, and twelve (1712) and twenty-seven (27) deaths. 


The new cases are in Kigali (6), Nyamagabe (3) and Nyagatare (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere. 

Rwanda’s response to COVID-19 brings out the need to prepare and learn from practice

Wash your hands, wear your face mask and practice physical distancing. These COVID-19 safety measures by the World Health Organization (WHO) will probably go down in the World’s history as the most repeated and translated words of the year 2020. 


Since December 2019, COVID-19 has imposed itself onto the World forcing everyone to rethink the word normal. It was only a matter of time before Rwanda would get its share of cases.

23 September 2020 — Forty-one (41) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2273 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, seven hundred, and seventy-nine (4779). To date, two thousand, nine hundred, and ninety-five (2995) patients have recovered and been discharged, including four (4) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, seven hundred, and fifty-seven (1757) and twenty-seven (27) deaths.

22 September 2020 — Sixteen (16) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 1631 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, seven hundred, and thirty-eight (4738). To date, two thousand, nine hundred, and ninety-one (2991) patients have recovered and been discharged, including eighteen (18) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, seven hundred, and twenty (1720) and twenty-seven (27) deaths.  The new death is a male Rwandan of 58 years old in Kigali.

21 September 2020 — Eleven (11) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 1448 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, seven hundred, and twenty-two (4722). To date, two thousand, nine hundred, and seventy-three (2973) patients have recovered and been discharged, including twelve (12) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, seven hundred, and twenty-two (1722) and twenty-seven (27) deaths.  The new death is a male Rwandan of 58 years old in Kigali.

20 September 2020 — Twenty-two (22) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 1892 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, seven hundred, and eleven (4711). To date, two thousand, nine hundred, and sixty-one (2961) patients have recovered and been discharged, including fifty-one (51) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, seven hundred, and twenty-four (1724) and twenty-six (26) deaths.  The new death is a female Rwandans of 26 years old in Kigali.

19 September 2020 — Eighteen (18) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2272 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, six hundred, and eighty-nine (4689). To date, two thousand, nine hundred, and ten (2910) patients have recovered and been discharged, including sixty-five (65) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, seven hundred, and fifty-three (1753) and twenty-six (26) deaths.  The new death is a female Rwandans of 26 years old in Kigali.

18 September 2020 — Eighteen (18) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 1549 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, six hundred, and seventy-one (4671). To date, two thousand, eight hundred, and forty-five (2845) patients have recovered and been discharged, including twenty-eight (28) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, eight hundred, and one (1801) and twenty-five (25) deaths.  The new deaths are two male Rwandans of 80 and 29 years old respectively in Kigali.

17 September 2020 — Nineteen (19) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2097 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, six hundred, and fifty-three (4653). To date, two thousand, eight hundred, and seventeen (2817) patients have recovered and been discharged, including twenty-eight (28) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, eight hundred, and thirteen (1813) and twenty-three (23) deaths.  The new death is a male Rwandan of 48 years old in Kigali.
