Update COVID-19 01 October 2020

01 October 2020 — Three (3) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2583 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, eight hundred, and forty-three (4843). To date, three thousand, one hundred, and eighty-one (3181) patients have recovered and been discharged, including twenty-nine (29) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, six hundred, and thirty-three (1633) and twenty-nine (29) deaths. 


The new cases are in Kigali (1), Musanze (1), and Kirehe (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere. 

Update COVID-19 30 September 2020

30 September 2020 — Four (4) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2807 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, eight hundred, and forty (4840). To date, three thousand, one hundred, and fifty-four (3154) patients have recovered and been discharged, including twenty-nine (29) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, six hundred, and fifty-seven (1657) and twenty-nine (29) deaths.

29 September 2020 — Four (4) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2761 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, eight hundred, and thirty-six (4836). To date, three thousand, one hundred, and twenty-five (3125) patients have recovered and been discharged, including eight (8) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, six hundred, and eighty-two (1682) and twenty-nine (29) deaths. 


The new cases are in Kigali (3), and Bugesera (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere. 

Update COVID-19 28 September 2020

28 September 2020 — Twelve (12) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 1283 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, eight hundred, and thirty-two (4832). To date, three thousand, one hundred, and seventeen (3117) patients have recovered and been discharged, including eighteen (18) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, six hundred, and eighty-six (1686) and twenty-nine (29) deaths. 


The new cases are in Kigali (9), and Kirehe (3); heightened vigilance is required everywhere.

27 September 2020 — Nine (9) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2207 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, eight hundred, and twenty (4820). To date, three thousand, and ninety-nine (3099) patients have recovered and been discharged, including eight (8) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, six hundred, and ninety-two (1692) and twenty-nine (29) deaths. 


The new cases are in Kigali (6), Nyamagabe (2), and Rubavu (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere.

26 September 2020 — Thirteen (13) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 1894 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, eight hundred, and eleven (4811). To date, three thousand, and ninety-one (3091) patients have recovered and been discharged, including eleven (11) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, six hundred, and ninety-one (1691) and twenty-nine (29) deaths. 


The new cases are in Kigali (13) testing in high risk groups; heightened vigilance is required everywhere. 

Update COVID-19 25 September 2020

25 September 2020 — Nine (9) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 1400 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, seven hundred, and ninety-eight (4798). To date, three thousand, and eighty (3080) patients have recovered and been discharged, including thirty (30) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, six hundred, and eighty-nine (1689) and twenty-nine (29) deaths. The two new deaths are a woman and a man Rwandan respectively of 46 and 44 years old in Kigali.

Update COVID-19 24 September 2020

24 September 2020 — Ten (10) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2158 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, seven hundred, and eighty-nine (4789). To date, three thousand, and fifty (3050) patients have recovered and been discharged, including fifty-five (55) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, seven hundred, and twelve (1712) and twenty-seven (27) deaths. 


The new cases are in Kigali (6), Nyamagabe (3) and Nyagatare (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere. 

Rwanda’s response to COVID-19 brings out the need to prepare and learn from practice

Wash your hands, wear your face mask and practice physical distancing. These COVID-19 safety measures by the World Health Organization (WHO) will probably go down in the World’s history as the most repeated and translated words of the year 2020. 


Since December 2019, COVID-19 has imposed itself onto the World forcing everyone to rethink the word normal. It was only a matter of time before Rwanda would get its share of cases.

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, seven hundred, and seventy-nine (4779). The number of active cases is one thousand, seven hundred, and fifty-seven (1757) and twenty-seven (27) deaths.
