Advancing resilient health systems and services in South Sudan
In South Sudan, the WHO is providing both strategic and operational support to address the Government's health priorities. As a result, there are significant support activities in emergency preparedness/response, addressing communicable/noncommunicable conditions, and responding to health needs across the life course through a systems approach. The WHO presence is at the National Level, covering all 10 states (and 3 administrative areas), 80 Counties, and the Payams that make up the administrative structure. This allows WHO to support both humanitarian and development needs across the country. This report presents the work provided by the WHO South Sudan Office in 2023, covering the work of the country and field offices. It summarizes the major achievements under four categories of the country’s priorities: Universal Health Coverage, Emergency Preparedness and Response, Enhancing health and well-being, and a more effective and efficient WHO that better supports the country.
