Nearly 2 million children have been reached with the first malaria vaccine, RTS,S/AS01, through four years of pilot introductions in Ghana, Kenya and Malawi, as part of the Malaria Vaccine Implementation Programme, MVIP. The RTS,S malaria vaccine is having high impact – implementation of the vaccine has resulted in substantial reduction in severe malaria and child deaths.
