Workshop on how to track & support data collection n domestic expenditures on maternal, newborn & child health in the African Region kicks off
Harare, 5 October 2011 -- A workshop on how to track and support data collection on domestic expenditure on maternal, newborn and child health in the African Region kicked off in Harare yesterday. The meeting brought together participants from Rwan-da, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Nigeria, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and facili-tators from HQ, AFRO and IST/ESA. The specific objectives of the meeting are:
- To improve the understanding of concepts and methods re-lated to expenditure tracking for RMNCH, to strengthen ca-pacity at country level to monitor financial inputs into the pro-gram cycle and to evaluate program implementation using an input-output-outcome conceptual approach.
- To produce and make available estimates on domestic gov-ernment RMNCH spending in low income countries
- To support the institutionalization of data collection related to domestic government expenditure on RMNCH in order to provide annual data
It is hoped that by the end of the workshop a first set of draft es-timates on domestic government RMNCH spending in the par-ticipating countries will be available.
