Every day is an opportunity for a risk communication professional to educate, uplift, and show compassion to people who most need it. Throughout her career, Tewa Marie Ouendeno has worked to overcome challenges to encourage communities affected by diseases to follow public health preventive measures. She has spent many hours visiting homes, conversing with residents and hearing about their worries and fears, notably in rural parts of Guinea and the Democratic Republic of the Congo where she has also received threats against her life. She did not give up though, knowing that her goal was too crucial to let fear stop her.
