With Africa currently undergoing a digital revolution, the World Health Organization Regional Office for Africa and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) today signed a Cooperation Agreement in Geneva, on using digital services to save lives and improve people’s health.

No child anywhere should suffer from Polio a completely preventable disease. The Ministry of Health of South Sudan, in collaboration with WHO and partners celebrated the World Polio day with various activities that included radio talk shows, road walks, community mobilization and provision of Polio vaccination to children under five.

As part of the events to mark the 72nd Anniversary of the day the UN Charter entered into force in 1945, the World Health Organization (WHO) in South Sudan, joined the rest of the UN family to provide essential promotive health services to the community on 24 October, 2017 at the Nyakuron Cultural Center, Juba.

Ethiopia commemorated World Polio Day on October 24, 2017. The dignitaries at this historic event were former President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) His Excellency Mr. Girma Wolde Georgis, His Excellency Dr. Kebede Worku, State Minister of Health, other distinguished government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, heads and delegates of UN agencies and honorable representatives of international organizations. Members of Rotary International and National Rotary Clubs, Representatives of CSOs, NITAG members and National Polio Committee chairs were also in attendance. The Federal Police Orchestra rejuvenated the WPD.
