Regional Director receives a courtesy call from Equatorial Guinea’s Ambassador to Republic of Congo
Brazzaville, 24 November 2009 -- The World Health Organization Regional Director for Africa, Dr Luis Sambo was paid a courtesy visit by Equatorial Guinea’s Ambassador to the Republic of Congo, His Excellency José Ela Ebang Mbang, on Tuesday 24th November 2009.
During the visit, they discussed issues of mutual interest between WHO and the Government of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. Among these was cooperation between WHO and the Equatorial Guinean government to further improve the health status of the people of Equatorial Guinea.
The 60th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa is scheduled to be held in Equatorial Guinea from 30th August -3rd September 2010 following a decision by the 58th Session of the regional governing body. Both parties also discussed about the common agreement between WHO and the Government of Equatorial Guinea for undertaking the hosting of this important regional public health event that is expected to be attended by Ministers of Health, health experts and partners.
His Excellency Ela Ebang Mbang assured the Regional Director of the commitment and willingness of the Government of Equatorial Guinea to work with WHO to ensure that the required conditions are created for the success of the meeting.
