In Ghana, the National TB Control Programme (NTP) has been instrumental in providing guidelines, treatment and support to clients affected by the disease. Since 2016 there have been great advances in the detection of Drug-resistant and Drug Sensitive TB cases, with GeneXpert is now the main diagnostic tool in investigating TB.

The World Health Organization (WHO) Uganda joined the rest of the world to commemorate World Malaria Day 2023 and the launch of the lifesaving vector control tool, the Insecticide Treated Mosquitoes nets (ITNs).  


The function took place on 25th April in Bugiri district under the national theme, ‘Getting back on track through investing, innovating, and implementation’. The day was preceded by a match past through town intended to raise awareness and mobilize communities to fight malaria which has claimed many lives in Uganda.

22 March 2023 – As needs grow and refugees continue to arrive, UN agencies and partner organizations today appealed for $116 million to provide life-saving assistance to Somali refugees seeking safety in an extremely remote area of Ethiopia’s Somali region. 

Since hostilities erupted last month in the city of Laascaanood, in the Sool region, Somalia , hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced within Somalia and close to 100,000 are estimated to have crossed the border into Ethiopia to escape violence.
