Neglected Tropical Disease mentorship launched in honour of Dr Mwele Malecela

World Health Organization (WHO) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation today announced plans to set up a mentorship programme for African women working in neglected tropical diseases programmes. The mentorship is in honour of the late Dr Mwele Malecela, who was one of Africa’s most highly respected female scientists and public health leaders.

Aiming to stop the risk of cholera transmission in Juba

Juba, 20 June 2022 – With support from WHO and Health Cluster partners, the Ministry of Health is targeting to vaccinate over 633 000 people against cholera in Juba county of South Sudan.

“The oral cholera vaccine (OCV) confer immunity up to a maximum of three years. We appreciate the efforts of the state Ministry of Health and partners in organizing the campaign”, said Honorable Yolanda Awel Deng Juach, Minister of Health, Republic of South Sudan.

18 June 2022, Dar es Salaam: Today, the WHO Tanzania Country Office team organized its first Walk the Talk event to encourage people of all ages and abilities to move for better health.
