01 September 2020 — Seventy-nine (79) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 5622 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand, one hundred, and forty-two (4142). To date, two thousand, and forty-four (2044) patients have recovered and been discharged, including thirty-one (31) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is two thousand and eighty-two (2082) and sixteen (16) deaths.  

Kampala, 2 September 2020:- Kasensero landing site located on the shores of Lake Victoria in Kyoteera district in southern Uganda has always made public health news. It is known as the “birth” place of HIV/AIDS in Uganda because the first confirmed cases were recorded from this area.

31 August 2020 — Forty-three (43) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4763 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand and sixty-three (4063). To date, two thousand, and thirteen (2013) patients have recovered and been discharged, including ninety-five (95) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is two thousand and thirty-four (2034) and sixteen (16) deaths.

30 August 2020 — A hundred and seventy-seven (177) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 6163 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to four thousand and twenty (4020). To date, one thousand, nine hundred and eighteen (1918) patients have recovered and been discharged, including fourteen (14) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is two thousand and eighty-six (2086) and sixteen (16) deaths.  

29 August 2020 — A hundred and one (101) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 6163 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to three thousand, eight hundred, and forty-three (3843). To date, one thousand, nine hundred and four (1904) patients have recovered and been discharged, including thirty-nine (39) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, nine hundred and twenty-three (1923) and sixteen (16) deaths.  

28 August 2020 — Seventy (70) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 5159 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to three thousand, seven hundred, and forty-two (3742). To date, one thousand, eight hundred and sixty-six (1866) patients have recovered and been discharged, including three (3) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, eight hundred and sixty (1860) and sixteen (16) deaths.  The new death is a Rwandan of 81 years old.

For many public health workers in Uganda, responding to disease outbreaks of epidemic potential in not new. This is because the country has been in preparedness and response modes for quite some time and its disease outbreak system has regularly been tested over the years.

27 August 2020 — Forty-seven (47) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4597 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to three thousand, six hundred, and seventy-two (3672). To date, one thousand, eight hundred and sixty-three (1863) patients have recovered and been discharged, including fifty-three (53) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, seven hundred and ninety-four (1794) and fifteen (15) deaths.
