Update COVID-19 22 May 2020

22 May 2020 — One (1) new CoVID_19 case was identified out of 1568 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to three hundred and twenty-one (321). To date, two hundred and twenty-two (222) patients have recovered and been discharged, including five (5) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is ninety-nine (99).


 All active cases are in isolation in stable condition.  

Africa COVID-19 cases top 100 000

The COVID-19 pandemic today reached a milestone in Africa, with more than 100 000 confirmed cases. The virus has now spread to every country in the continent since the first case was confirmed in the region 14 weeks ago.

Update COVID-19 21 May 2020

21 May 2020 — Six (6) new CoVID_19 cases were identified out of 1083 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to three hundred and twenty (320). To date, two hundred and seventeen (217) patients have recovered and been discharged, including one (1) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is a hundred and three (103).


 All active cases are in isolation in stable condition.  

Update COVID-19 28 April 2020

28 April 2020 — Five (5) new CoVID_19 cases were identified out of 1505 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to two hundred and twelve (212). To date, ninety-five (95) patients have recovered and been discharged, including two (2) in the past 24 hrs. The number of active cases is a hundred and seventeen (117).


This increase of new confirmed cases reflects a rise in cases of cross-border truck drivers and their assistants. All active cases are in isolation in stable condition.  

Update COVID-19 03 May 2020

03 May 2020 — Four (4) new CoVID_19 cases were identified out of 1047 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to two hundred and fifty-nine (259). To date, a hundred and twenty-four (124) patients have recovered and been discharged, including four (4) in the past 24 hrs. The number of active cases remains a hundred and thirty-five (135).


This increase of new confirmed cases reflects a rise in cases of cross-border truck drivers and their assistants. All active cases are in isolation in stable condition.  

Update COVID-19 08 May 2020

08 May 2020 — Two (2) new CoVID_19 cases were identified out of 1353 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to two hundred and seventy-three (273). To date, a hundred and thirty-six (136) patients have recovered and been discharged, including three (3) in the past 24 hrs. The number of active cases remains a hundred and thirty-seven (137).


 All active cases are in isolation in stable condition.  

Update COVID-19 13 May 2020

13 May 2020 — One (1) new CoVID_19 case was identified out of 866 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to two hundred and eighty-seven (287). To date, a hundred and sixty-four (164) patients have recovered and been discharged, including eleven (11) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is a hundred and twenty-three (123).


 All active cases are in isolation in stable condition.  

Update COVID-19 18 May 2020

18 May 2020 — Five (5) new CoVID_19 cases were identified out of 1744 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to two hundred and ninety-seven (297). To date, two hundred and three (203) patients have recovered and been discharged, including six (6) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is ninety-four (94).


 All active cases are in isolation in stable condition.  

Enhancing the provision of COVID-19 treatment in South Sudan

Over 100 health workers have been trained in the last three weeks with the aim to rapidly increase trained healthcare workers in response to COVID-19 outbreak in the country.

With support from World Health Organization (WHO) and other partners the Ministry of Health has trained health workers on COVID-19 case management and infection prevention and control (IPC). Participants are equipped with knowledge and skills on patient screening, isolation, contact tracing, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and waste management.
