Abeokuta, 07 December 2020 - My name is Mrs Funmi and was diagnosed hypertensive in 2019 when I went to Obantoko Primary Healthcare facility to check my blood pressure. The nurse told me it was high, and I told her that I had not used my drugs because could not afford them. The nurse told me about the new programme at the centre and I started going regularly because the health workers are kind and the drugs are affordable for me.

07 December 2020 — Sixty-five (62) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2182 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to six thousand, one hundred, and ninety-one (6191). To date, five thousand, six hundred, and ninety-six (5696) patients have recovered, with no one in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is four hundred and forty-four (444) and fifty-one (51) deaths. 
The new cases are in Kigali (50), Musanze (7), Rubavu (3), Ngororero (1), and Rusizi (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere.

The Minister of Health and Wellness inaugurated the Virtual Training Laboratory and launched the training of Nurses on NCD Prevention and Control on 03 December 2020 in the presence of the WHO Representative in Mauritius, Dr Laurent Musango and the high- level officials of the Ministry.   The close collaboration of WHO in setting up this virtual platform for continuous capacity building of the health personnel was duly recognized by Dr Hon Kailash Kumar Jagutpal, Minister of Health and Wellness. “The Health Sector is evolving and dynamic.  It is a sector which is now and then confronted with new disease, new treatment protocol and best practices and we have to always keep abreast with latest development taking place,” said Dr Hon K. K. Jagutpal. The Health Minister explained how COVID-19 impacted on exchange programmes and the challenges faced by the Ministry including identification of venue and travel restrictions which made it impossible to get experts from abroad.  He further added that, “the virtual mode, though not a new concept has become importance with the ongoing pandemic. The e-platform was used for e-briefing and during e-working sessions and this new experience brought multi benefits including reduction in implementing cost.”

04 December 2020 — Twenty-two (32) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 3662 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to six thousand, and forty-three (6043). To date, five thousand, five hundred, and seventy-two (5672) patients have recovered, including seventy-six (76) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is three hundred and twenty (320) and fifty-one (51) deaths. The new death is a man Rwandan of 45 years old in Kigali.

Francistown, Botswana - 4 December 2020: The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) conducted an eight-day training of trainers (TOTs) workshop in Francistown on Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) which targeted all the District Health Management Teams (DHMTs) across the country. The training was supported through the European Union Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid. The aim of the workshop was to prepare a team of Trainers to support the implementation of IPC practices.

03 December 2020 — Seventeen (17) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 3712 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to six thousand, and eleven (6011). To date, five thousand, five hundred, and ninety-six (5596) patients have recovered, including twenty-one (21) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is three hundred and sixty-five (365) and fifty (50) deaths. The new death is a man Rwandan of 45 years old in Kigali.

Kampala, 3rd December 2020: - Uganda received a consignment of 5 Bi-directional COVID-19 Smart Texting Walk-Through booths, 26,400 RNA Extraction kits and 26,400 PCR Diagnostic Kits worth over one (1) billion Uganda shillings from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to aid in the fight against COVID-19.
