Under the global theme “Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite,” Angola observed World Malaria Day with a ceremony held at the Private University of Angola (UPRA) in Luanda. The event reaffirmed the country’s ongoing efforts toward reducing the malaria burden and working toward the goal of elimination by 2030, in line with the World Health Organization (WHO)’s global strategy.

After an inspiring and impactful career spanning 25 years, Dodoli Wilfred, a long-serving and highly respected WHO professional, has officially retired from the World Health Organization. On 29th April 2025, Dodoli marked his final day with the organization, closing a remarkable chapter defined by dedication, innovation, and unwavering commitment to public health. At the time of his retirement, he was based at the WHO Country Office in Botswana, where he served in a key Programme Management role.

Juba- Mrs. Lavina Mariba, today, celebrated the launch of the African vaccination week as a proud mother, with all her three children fully vaccinated and every family member up to date with their shots. “All my children are fully vaccinated, my husband and I as well,” said Mariba “my children have not fallen ill for the past eight months, and I believe this is the work of vaccine, I am proud of it.” Narrated Mariba.

From April 24 to 30, 2025, Angola joins the other countries on the African continent to mark the 15th edition of African Vaccination Week (AVW), an initiative led by the World Health Organization (WHO), which aims to promote vaccination as a fundamental right and one of the most effective public health interventions.
