Dr. Maina's arrival marks a pivotal moment in the nation's healthcare trajectory, bringing with her a wealth of experience and expertise garnered from her extensive career in health emergency operations.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recently, in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Namibia and the Government of Namibia, launched two critical projects valued at USD 758,916 and USD 500,000, respectively. The projects aim to address climate mitigation and resilience, food security, and nutrition related issues in partnerships with the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform (MAWLR) and the Ministry of Health and Social Service (MoHSS).
 

Namibia commemorates World Health Day

This year the World Health Day was commemorated in Rundu, Kavango East Region under the theme “My health, my right” championing the right of everyone, everywhere to have and enjoy access to quality health care services, health education and information. The theme further emphasis access to safe drinking water, clean air, good nutrition, quality housing, decent working and environmental conditions, and freedom from discrimination as key determinants of health.

The World Health Organization and Makerere School of Public Health (MakSPH) are engaged in discussions on how MakSPH may qualify as a WHO Collaborating Centre (WHOCC) in Uganda. This came up during the meeting to review the performance of the five-year memorandum of understanding between the two institutions on planning and implementing joint research projects in priority public health areas in the country.

Mafeteng- The 7th of April every year is celebrated as World Health Day. Health is a fundamental right of every human being regardless of race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or social status. In Lesotho, the Ministry of Health with support from the World Health Organisation(WHO) hosted a weeklong event to mark this day beginning with a health walk in Mafeteng District led by the Minister of Health, Mr. Selibe Mochoboroane, a high school poetry competition on the theme amongst others.
