Update COVID-19 22 February 2021

22 February 2021 — One hundred and forty-six (146) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2655 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases eighteen thousand, one hundred and ninety-nine (18199). To date, sixteen thousand, nine hundred, and ninety-two (16992) patients have recovered, including one hundred, and eighty-nine (189) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is nine hundred, and fifty-five (955) and two hundred, and fifty-two (252) deaths.

21 February 2021 — Sixty-five (65) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4128 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases eighteen thousand, and fifty-three (18053). To date, sixteen thousand, eight hundred, and three (16803) patients have recovered, including two hundred, and six (206) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, one hundred, and one (1001) and two hundred, and forty-nine (249) deaths.

20 February 2021 — Fifty-nine (59) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4668 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases seventeen thousand, nine hundred, and eighty-eight (17988). To date, sixteen thousand, five hundred, and ninety-seven (16597) patients have recovered, including two hundred, and ten (210) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, one hundred, and forty-four (1144) and two hundred, and forty-seven (247) deaths.

19 February 2021 — Ninety-four (94) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4862 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases seventeen thousand, nine hundred, and twenty-nine (17929). To date, sixteen thousand, three hundred, and eighty-seven (16387) patients have recovered, including two hundred, and twenty-four (224) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, two hundred, and ninety-seven (1297) and two hundred, and forty-five (245) deaths.

18 February 2021 — One hundred, and nineteen (119) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4391 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases seventeen thousand, eight hundred, and thirty-five (17835). To date, sixteen thousand, one hundred, and sixty-three (16163) patients have recovered, including two hundred, and forty-five (245) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, four hundred, and twenty-nine (1429) and two hundred, and forty-three (243) deaths. 

Africa is getting ready to roll out COVID-19 vaccines

Africa marked the move from planning to action in the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines at a World Health Organization (WHO)-hosted African Health Ministers meeting on 17 February, as a rapid vaccine rollout is expected in the wake of the WHO listing of two versions of the AstraZeneca-Oxford COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use.

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases seventeen thousand, seven hundred, and sixteen (17716). To date, fifteen thousand, nine hundred, and eighteen (15918) patients have recovered, including four hundred, and forty-three (443) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, five hundred, and fifty-five (1555) and two hundred, and forty-three (243) deaths.

16 February 2021 — One hundred, and ten (110) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4814 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases seventeen thousand, five hundred, and ninety-four (17594). To date, fifteen thousand, four hundred, and seventy-five (15475) patients have recovered, including three hundred, and fifty (350) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, eight hundred, and seventy-nine (1879) and two hundred, and forty (240) deaths.
