03 February 2021 — One hundred, and forty-six (146) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4834 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases fifteen thousand, eight hundred, and thirty-four (15834). To date, ten thousand, nine hundred, and sixty-three (10963) patients have recovered, including two hundred, and eighteen (218) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is four thousand, six hundred, and sixty-three (4663) and two hundred, and eight (208) deaths.

4 February 2021, Juba, South Sudan - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and WHO are to build the second phase of the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC) in Juba, South Sudan.

The groundbreaking ceremony was presided over by Honorable Hon. Elizabeth Acuei Yol, Minister of Health, in the presence of the African Development Bank Country Manager for South Sudan, the Head of Cooperation in the Embassy of Japan, the Undersecretary and Directors General in the Ministry of Health, WHO South Sudan Staff and the media.

02 February 2021 — Two hundred, and twenty-nine (229) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 4257 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases fifteen thousand, six hundred, and eighty-eight (15688). To date, ten thousand, seven hundred, and forty-five (10745) patients have recovered, including four hundred, and seventy-three (473) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is four thousand, seven hundred, and thirty-eight (4738) and two hundred, and five (205) deaths.

At about 4:00 pm, a team from the field support team from the World Health Organization (WHO) meets Fahad Barigira, a 24-year-old man on the shores of Lake Edward. He is getting ready for his next fishing shift which starts at 5:00 pm and ends at 7:00 am the next day. 

Fahad is married with one child and has spent three years as a fisherman on the lake. He is part of a three-man fishing crew which includes his brother and a friend. 

The Acting Country Representative for WHO in Ghana, Dr. Neema Kimambo has reiterated the UN Family continued support and collaboration of the Government of Ghana in the phase of increasing COVID-19 infections.

Abuja, 3 February, 2021 - As the COVID-19 pandemic gained momentum across the world with many countries, including Nigeria going on lockdown, there arose fears that the people living with HIV (PLHIV) might not have access to Antiretroviral (ARTs). The fears of the outbreak disrupting ARTs supplies to PLHIV in Nigeria was, however, not as devastating because the country had already adopted the Differentiated Service Delivery (DSD) model in December, 2019. The gains of the model became noticeable during the imposed lockdown by the government. 
 

COVID-19, a disease caused by the SARS coronavirus-2 was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11, 2020., Ghana recorded its first two cases on March 12, 2020. As at November 1 2020, Ghana had recorded 48, 643 confirmed cases with 320 deaths.

The 5-year Eritrean National Action Plan (NAP) on combating Antimicrobial Resistance, 2021 – 2025, developed jointly with MOH, line ministries, and WHO was officially signed by the honorable Ministers on 28th December 2020, reiterating their commitment for implementation.
Honorable Minister of Health, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Land, Water and Environment, Minister of Marine Resources, signed the official document indicating their support and pledge to the NAP implementation and shared responsibility. 

Since the emergence of COVID-19 in December 2019, over 216 countries and territories have been affected globally. Like a raging fire, COVID-19 has left in its trail over a million deaths and 50 million infections worldwide. Ghana has had its share of this global pandemic, with a little over 49,000 confirmed cases and 320 deaths as at November 9, 2020.
