Angola Observes World Malaria Day with Focus on Renewed Commitment

Under the global theme “Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite,” Angola observed World Malaria Day with a ceremony held at the Private University of Angola (UPRA) in Luanda. The event reaffirmed the country’s ongoing efforts toward reducing the malaria burden and working toward the goal of elimination by 2030, in line with the World Health Organization (WHO)’s global strategy.

After an inspiring and impactful career spanning 25 years, Dodoli Wilfred, a long-serving and highly respected WHO professional, has officially retired from the World Health Organization. On 29th April 2025, Dodoli marked his final day with the organization, closing a remarkable chapter defined by dedication, innovation, and unwavering commitment to public health. At the time of his retirement, he was based at the WHO Country Office in Botswana, where he served in a key Programme Management role.

Campaign in Angola: Vaccination for all is humanly possible

From April 24 to 30, 2025, Angola joins the other countries on the African continent to mark the 15th edition of African Vaccination Week (AVW), an initiative led by the World Health Organization (WHO), which aims to promote vaccination as a fundamental right and one of the most effective public health interventions.

Mbabane—In commemoration of the World Health Day 2025 on 7 April 2025, the Kingdom of Eswatini joined global partners in launching a year-long campaign under the theme “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures”, calling for renewed commitment to end preventable maternal and neonatal deaths.

The national commemoration brought together policymakers, health professionals, civil society, UN agencies, government officials, and children, reflecting a collective vision for safer pregnancies and healthier newborns.
